Quiet of the Snow

Quiet of the Snow is a small mini-suite of prints created in 2013 using snow as atmosphere. Hands, vulnerable and exposed to the frigid elements, emphasize the visceral nature of the cold’s affect on us. Having grown up in the austere landscape of the Canadian prairies, I experienced snow as central to my existence for many months of the year. Occasionally trapped by blizzards and six- to eight-foot drifts, I found snow provided time for reflection. Although it often prevented the regular errands and busyness of life from occurring, snow was also sanctuary in its ability to quiet life’s typical pace. Within the crystals and the dampening of its layers, there is a place to contemplate, dream, and reconsider.
